LAXCATS RETURN HOME FROM PLAYOFFS
It was a sunny yet windy Thursday afternoon at Chapman University in Orange, CA for the quarter finals of the SLC Championships. Our Laxcats fought hard, played well but eventually succumbed to UC Santa Barbara. We did our best and had no reason to walk off the field without our heads held high. Although we scored first, it was back and forth throughout the first half with the Gauchos holding on to 5-4 at halftime advantage. UCSB went ahead 6-4 in the 3rd, we came back to tie it at 6 as the momentum appeared to swing our way. To their credit Santa Barbara scored the next 3 quickly, taking a 9-6 advantage and never looked back. The final was 13-8, but it could be said that it was closer at 11-8 as we left the goal open trying to get the ball back for one last offensive surge. It was a terrific learning season of growth and left us encouraged for next year which promises to be better and something to look forward to.
On a bittersweet note, we also said goodbye to 4 year players and captains, Ryan Daly and Alex "Big Country" Beauchamp who are graduating soon and heading to the next chapter in their lives. We'll look forward to hearing of their successes and seeing them in October for our Homecoming/Alumni Weekend Extravaganza.
The Laxcats would like to thank all of our families, alumni, the Department of Recreation, and friends for their continued emotional and financial support with unvarying encouragement throughout our 2010 campaign.
Here's some images from the game that I hope you'll enjoy.
FANTASTIC SUCCESS FOR LAXCAT FAMILY WEEKEND
Thank you to all of the families that came to Tucson over the weekend to support The Laxcats and all of the families that couldn't make it but wished they could've been here. Everything about the weeeknd was a terrific success, not the least of which can be read in the accompanying news article below "LAXCATS REGAIN MOMENTUM WITH DECISIVE 22-5 WIN". The skies were blue, The Laxcats wore white, and the temperature was in the 80's. Saturday night's dinner with about 100 players, Mom's, Dad's, Sister's, Brother's, Aunt's, Uncle's, Grandma's, Grandpa's, coaches, friends and I think a couple of homeless folks, was a Love Fest of dynamic proportions. LAXCAT FEVER is at a nenewed energy! And a special thanks for helping me break in the Casa de Miles, it needed all that Love!
