LAXCATS COMPLETE SWEET IN VEGAS WITH A DOUBLE OT WIN OVER UTAH, 7-6
With 2:15 left in the 2nd OT, Alex "Big Country" Beauchamp picked up a loose ball and slammed home the winner. Frankie Connell tied that game with 51 seconds to put the Laxcats in our second OT this season. We left Las Vegas with a 6-2 record and will be preparing for our home game with Colorado State University on Monday, March 15.
Senior middie Alex Beauchamp scored the game-winning goal with 2:15 remaining in double-overtime to give Arizona a 7-6 upset victory over No. 19 Utah in an MCLA Division I game Sunday afternoon.
Beauchamp scored his only goal on a shot into the top-right corner from about 10 yards after he picked up a ground ball during an unsettled situation to give the Laxcats (5-2) their second straight win.
Questions: Was the rain going to continue to come down or would it stay up, would the field be accessible, would the officials show, would we dirty our new white uniforms, would we win our first conference game?
Answers: The rain stopped, the sun visited here and there, the game started on time, the field was great, the uniforms got dirty but that’s why we have Shaffer Cleaners on our team and we won 9-5.
It was a great weekend and some wonderful experiences for our beloved Laxcats as we traveled to Austin, TX for 3 games.
The weekend got rearranged due to severe weather in that area and we ended up playing our first 2 games, Texas A & M and Texas in Austin and finished up in Georgetown, TX against Southwestern University.
