LAXCATS REGAIN MOMENTUM WITH DECISIVE 22-5 WIN

April 10, 2010
By Richard Cohen

Tucson, AZ April 10:      The University of Arizona returned to the field just in time with a convincing win over the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Arizona (3-1, 7-5) got off slowly against the Tritons after a 2 ½ weeks layoff but once the fire was lit it didn’t go out until the final whistle and the 22-5 final. Possibly a more significant aspect of the win, it meant a trip to the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) playoffs later this month.                                                                                                                  “Going into the game, I was a concerned about how we’d come out of the break, a bit more after the first quarter with the score tied at one” remarked Coach Mickey-Miles Felton. “It was Laxcat Family Weekend and we had families from all over the Country coming in town to see both their favorite Laxcat and the progress of the 2010 version of the University of Arizona Men’s Lacrosse.”

Laxcats drop 4th in a row to UCSB, 9-4

March 23, 2010

March 23:  In tonight's game, our defense did its part while awaiting our offense to rise to the occasion but that never happened as the University of California, Santa Barbara crept slowly but consistently to the 9-4 final.  It was 3-1 after the first 15 minutes, 4-1 at the half, and 6-3 after 3 quarters. Credit goes to the Gauchos for a well played game in which 6 players accounted for their 9 goals. Alex “Big Country” Beauchamp tallied 3 goals for us and Connor Roberg on a full field rush, scored our other goal, the first by a Laxcat defenseman this season.

We now have a 2 ½ week layoff before our next game, a home game during Laxcat Family Weekend against the University of California, San Diego. We’ll use that time to re-evaluate our strengths and weaknesses while preparing for the final push of our season.

I have received positive comments on our first and successful attempt at “Twittering” the game thanks to former Laxcat Sugar Shane Morrison at the keyboard.

Laxcats end Southern Cal trip with second loss

March 20, 2010

March 20: Unfortunately we weren't able properly entertain a tremendous turnout of alumni, parents, recruits, and friends that came to Loyola Marymount University to support us.  The Lions roared loader today then the Cats as we lost 13-6. It's now time to get on the bus and drive back to Tucson to regroup and prepare for Tuesday's game against the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB).  We start working out the kinks on Monday and will continue to work hard to get the journey back on the right path.  THANKS SO MUCH for everyone that made it out and all the other Laxcat fans that continue to support our team!

Laxcats suffers tough 9-7 loss to Tereros

March 18, 2010

March 18: The bus was beautiful, the day was beautiful, the field at the University of San Diego was beautiful, crowd was beautiful, but the show we put on for a supportive Arizona crowd, including parents, alumni, friends and recruits, was far from beautiful.  Another slow start combined with the Toreros patient and well thought out game plan tonight at Manchester Valley Athletic Field never allowed us to truly get started. The University of San Diego outscored us 3-0 in the first quarter.
